Prada Men’s 2010 Fall/Winter Collections Hit The Milan Runways
Men’s runway shows have been buzzing in Milan recently, where designers began showing their fall/winter collections for 2010.
Miuccia Prada managed to mine the American preppy canon alongside bold street-wear patterns that included colorful puzzle-piece camouflage and dizzying geometrics on what appeared to be ballistic-nylon outerwear and bags.
As the first of the navy blue blazers, beige trousers and camel-colored trench coats hit the runway, it seemed like a huge departure from the traditional Prada DNA. But as the models made their second pass back up the runway one could notice it was all filtered through the Prada lens, as the designer toyed with the traditional ever so slightly: sweaters stopping above the navel and sleeves creeping below the wrist, while outwear pieces had generously cut lapels and many collars were double layered – one of shearling, shiny vinyl or nylon, with a second on top in a knit fabric.

Prada’s Vitello Daino Tote
With so many busy patterns and statement-making handbags on the market, here’s one that’s of simple design but still quite refreshing. It’s Prada’s Vitello Daino tote in silver pebble-finished calf leather, with gold hardware, and no other adornments except a very small golden “PRADA” logo on the front, and a luggage tag that dangles off one of the double handles. Basics include two inside pockets (one zippered and one open) and a removable shoulder strap. Price tag – $1,220.

Old Is New This Year At Prada
2009 is just hours away, and it becomes us all to forswear all fashion mistakes and shape up to a new look for 2009. What’s interesting for the upcoming year / season though, is that the ‘old’ has been revisited as ‘new’ by some designers, including Prada.
For example, if you had bought anything from Prada’s 2000 spring collection (for example, its lipstick-print skirts, knits or bowling bags), you could wear them right now, with impunity and even a smirk, as Prada herself recently re-released the prints – just to underline their credibility – and the bowling shape has undoubtedly become a classic.
At right is a snapshot from Prada spring/summer 2000.

Prada’s 2009 Spring/Summer Campaign
Prada’s campaign for 2009 Spring/Summer is being shot by photographers Steven Meisel (womenswear) and Hedi Slimane (menswear), and will be all about “new classicism with a rebel edge”.
Inspired by an ancient age and a desire to return to basic emotional and physical dimensions in classical art and early culture, the female models will be seen in crumpled dresses adorned in bows and bras, while the male models will were shot in black and white in a moment of reflection, sporting the season’s key pieces, from classic suiting to informal outerwear. Look out for it.
